Hello, I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with all the updates, Google Chrome, Firefox, and Flash 10.1
Media College (http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/player/version/show.html) says this for my flash version: LNX 10,1,53,64

Chrome's "about : plugins" page says I actually have two flash plugins ...

Shockwave Flash
Description: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53
Location: /opt/google/chrome/libgcflashplayer.so
MIME types:
MIME type Description File extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash .swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player .spl

Shockwave Flash
Description: Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53
Location: /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so
MIME types:
MIME type Description File extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash .swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player .spl

Whenever I allow any flash content (I have flashblock), my computer starts spazzing out. Things don't work as smoothly and the most disruptive behavior is that my Logitech VX USB RF wireless mouse starts acting erratically. Additionally, CPU usage is very high. This does not happen in Windows 7 on the same machine, but it does happen on Ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop too, though not to the same extent - my mouse, while it seems to be slightly odd, is still more responsive on my desktop.

Laptop: 1.83GHz Intel Core2Duo T5550
Desktop: 1GHz AMD AthlonX2 3800+

Summary: on my laptop (and to a lesser extent, my desktop), when flash content is allowed, the CPU usage goes to extreme, causing the system to slow down and the mouse to become erratic.

By the way, some examples of flash content: youtube, speedtest.net, last.fm's radio, etc

One more note: Sometimes even changing pages (such as clicking on a link) will bog down the mouse for a moment until the page is loaded, though I have broadband.

Any suggestions to rectify this? I saw someone mention on another thread to use an earlier version of flash, but then I noticed that their post was written in 2008. Should I use an earlier version, or what else can I do to reign in the CPU usage?
