Why don't Microsoft share it with every country?

Why don't Microsoft share it with every country?

Because Russia 'likes' Linux ? : http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.cnews.ru/news/top/index.shtml%3F2010/07/06/399300&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com

Because security services are notorious for their lax security?

Why don't Microsoft share it with every country?

Because Russian hackers make more money this way?

Plus didn't Russia decide that they were going to replace every Windows system in schools (and government?) with their own home-spun Linux based on Red Hat?

well Russia did have one of it's spies working at Microsoft.

This is their way of getting around those pesky Microsoft EULAs

This might sound stupid, but how does anyone know that the final binaries they are using are actually from the source code they've been given?

Presumably they will be allowed / assisted with building Windows from the very source they have in front of them, otherwise they could be given fake source.

Sound far-fetched? Consider the implications that exist for MS in showing their source code to anyone

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to whom the Microsoft opened the source code is the successor to the KGB and many of the old KGB types are still around.

Guh. Glad I left Windows. (Until Apple pulls something like this with OSX. Then all I'll have left is Ubuntu. Which isn't really bad at all :D)

I'm on the fence about my own government, let alone Russia's :P
