So I'm starting to port over to using Ubuntu, but I'm running into a problem on a IDE to use. On Windows, I used PhpEd as my main IDE. I tried using it in conjunction with WINE, but it doesn't run very well, so I wanna know if there is a good PHP web IDE for Linux. I tried Zend Studio but I'm not a big fan.

FTP support is a must!

Thanks!

My favorite: Netbeans with php module.
Second Komodo edit.

I use Aptana (http://www.aptana.com/). It can either be standalone or a plugin for Eclipse.

As for FTP, consider mounting the FTP share:

Places->Connect to a Server->FTP[ with login]

I find it much easier, as it acts like local files.

Alright, so I got my FTP added under Places, figured that would be the best way to go. But, when I open either Zend or Eclipse to create a new project from existing source, I can't get to my FTP.

How could I get my FTP to show up right under "System Reserved"?

Thanks!

Netbeans is one of the best IDEs for PHP development, but seems pretty unstable (6.9) under Ubuntu 10.10. Works excellent under Windows.

Netbeans is probably the best PHP IDE out there but its bloated as hell.

I personally prefer kate. It's almost like notepad++ once you install a bunch of plugins.

I use Komodo IDE since I switched to Ubuntu (four years or so), but it crashes oftenly, specially in last year. I tried geany, nice, but not as well as Komodo. The same with blue fish ...
I also try to find another one ...
