live usb installation?

when i boot from my live usb drive i see an option to install to the laptops hard disk instead of running from the usb drive. if i do the install to disk option will it create a dual boot or will it replace the previous os?

It will do either - your choice.

The Live USB should work just like the Live CD.
You have the option of how you want to install when you get to partitioning.
