Hi,

In my laptop, I had SafeGuard Easy and it was working OK with XP.
Every time I used to switch on the laptop then after PBA , XP was loaded.

Then I tried to install Ubuntu in a external USB Hard disk, and then GRUB overwrites the MBR of Laptop's Hard disk with out informing me!!!!.

Now my laptop cant not boot in XP any more but GRUB can load Ubuntu from USB HDD.

How I can boot in Windows XP or how I can access the file system?

I tried with BartPE and SGE plugins, but it says SafeGuard Easy Subsystem Encryption missing.

Please help or share your experience or Help.

Thanks,
BT

Hi Bengaltiger, Hi Ubuntu users,

I have exactly the same problem, how did you solve your problem? I find it to the least disturbing that Ubuntu messes up with the MBR without telling. On the other hand I installed it 3 times, and had 3 times a different behaviour. (It never booted into Ubuntu actually)

But I have a Grub error at the beginning. I saw there is a Super Grub utility on the net, but i don't know what it would do to the windows partition. presumably restore the default, which is to no utility to me...

Hi!

the only way to restore was for me the Sophos/Utimaco restore CD (for me was V4.50, there is a menu in the restore CD). But the day was spoiled.

Then the repair option (thanks to the IT support of my work !)
