I love gedit, there's really not much else I need besides line numbers and syntax highlighting. The only wish I have is that it would have the ability to add tabs to several lines at once and collapse lines. Then it would be superior. :)

Gedit is nice, sometimes I break down and use OOo's Write though

I also love gedit! What a great editor, though sometimes i get lazy and stick with vi.

If I understood "tabs" right, then:
Indent:
1. Select portion text.
2. Press [ctrl]+[t]
Unindent:
1. Select portion text.
2. Press [ctrl]+[shift]+[t]

Gedit functionality can be extended by programming python plugins. Browse the wiki for examples and links to mailing lists to get more info:

I love the snippets and external tools plugins. Spent yesterday playing with them. If you hit ctrl-space you get a list of all matching tab triggers!

What I want now: A good word-completion plugin and bookmarked lines.
