I recently switched to KDE by installing Kubuntu-desktop package, several issues popped up after that:
1) I can't force the system to log in through KDE login manager, each time I boot the computer, ugly Gnome panel pops up. I tried
sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm with no result. The configuring app load in terminal, asks for settings, I save the setting and after I log out from KDE the same thing happens.
2) no power-off button. It's truly annoying, but from what I read it's related to the #1 issue.
How to get rid of Gnome? If that's possible, I'd like to remove it completely since there are too many annoying things still in the system.
I'd appreciate some hints as to how to get rid of those issues :)
best regards,
