I switched from Sans to the Droid Sans font. I'm currently using the Elementary theme, and I'd like a system font for Ubuntu that's incredibly classy and elite-looking, yet not hard to read.

Times New Roman or if you want classy go with Courier New. Nothing says classy like old school newspaper style font.

Please stay away from comic sans

You may want to give "Inconsolata" a go. It is a monospaced font similar to Consolas (the Vista and 7 monospaced font, AFAIK). It's available in the repository, as well. A Serif font you may like for OpenOffice is SILgentium (also available in the repositories). It's not really designed for on-screen use, but it doesn't lack personality when printed.

It would also be wonderful if we had proper OpenType support, as that would allow us to use MinionPro and Myriad (as used in Science Magazine). These fonts are bundled with Acrobat Reader.

Finally, my PhD thesis was typeset in LaTeX, with Garamond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garamond) as the body font. The URW free-to-download version, mind you. I'd love to have the spare $200 that costs the full Adobe Garamond Pro Family.

I like the boring fonts: DejaVu Sans and Verdana (part of MS-fonts).

These 7 fonts (http://www.webupd8.org/2010/07/what-font-to-use-for-your-ubuntu.html) are pretty cool. I for one use Nokia's s60 (not sure if that's legal though).
