Hi everyone

I have been hired at an ISP helpdesk recently where all the users use a GUI version of Ubuntu, probably version 9.10. To learn the GUI, I have downloaded the latest version by cliking on the Desktop tab, Download button and Start Download button. After installing it in VMWare version 6.5 on my 64 bit Windows 7, the virtual gues only booted up to the Command Prompt. How can I start up the GUI? I have absolutely no clue. Please help me out.

Regards,

Dee

Try using the command 'gdm'.

Thank you for the replies. The gdm command returned an error message, but after resetting the guest, Ubuntu booted up! Not sure what was wrong with it, but it said at the beginning something could not be mounted. Then on the log-on screen, it did not receive any keyboard input. Any other advice would be appreciated.
