Every night when I'm at the gym and theirs nobody else there I hear the sound of what sounds like someone opening up a two or three liter bottle of soda pop very quickly and the subsequent carbonation escaping, coming from one of the locked back rooms. It happens about every 3 or 4 minutes.

If it was just the air sound I'd assume it was some kind of air compressor getting rid of excess pressure. But it's the sound of the twisting bottle cap that puzzles me. Not only does it sound like a bottle cap being taken off very loudly. But it's at about the same length that a someone would twist, replace their hand on the cap, twist again, and possibly a third time to get the cap all the way off. Not a steady constant sound.

The first time I heard it I nearly jumped out of my skin. Now it's just really creepy. Every time I hear it I get the mental image of some fat guy sitting alone in the back room guzzling down bottle after bottle of pop waiting to jump out and strangle me to death.

^This^

However, I would arrive earlier and ask someone. For the sake of my own sanity.
