View Full Version : [ubuntu] help me! "grub rescue"

yesterday ive installed ubuntu 9.84 in my XP OS "D drive" and configured ut with reliance broadband+.
since 10.04 version was available i wanted to go for the upgrade.
after the "removing stage" and restart option now i only get the option "grub rescue>".
please help

Well, that sounds like a grub2 error but I can't be sure what's going on. You said:

But there is no "9.84", and when you say it's installed to "D" drive confuses me as to whether it's a Wubi install or an actual dual-boot.

If that was 9.04 I assume you did a fresh install to 10.04, or was it an actual upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04?

It would be immensely helpful if you'd boot any Ubuntu Live CD and use it to post the results of the Boot Info Script as described here:

http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/

Then we can see what the installation actually looks like :)
