A security consultant has released a Ubuntu-based Linux distribution specifically designed to help analyze and re-engineer malware. Lenny Zeltser on Thursday released REMnux on Sourceforge and it has already been downloaded nearly 2,000 times.

It looks like REMnux was updated to version 2, this year. Its great that security professionals use Linux to inspect Windows malware!

Why not release a program, or list of programs? Backtrack would probably include them.

This... I don't see the need for an entire distro for this purpose. Just package the applications up so they can easily be installed through the Software Center/package manager.

It seems every application these days needs it's own Linux distro to go with it... I just don't get it.
