Akonadi console

Today I have noted that I have installed Akonadi console in apps, system tools.

I am not concious of having installed this application in my system (karmic koala), so i suppose it has been installed with some of the recent updates.

I use some kde packages as ktorrent, k3b, Kalzium, Kstars, Ktechlab,...unless my desktop is gnome.

Well, I have three questions:

Which update (what is the software package name)has installed Akonadi console on my system?

What is it and what is for?

Can I safely remove it or not?
