I'm also suffering with this extremely annoying problem, isn't this version supposed to have 'crash protection'?. Some googling reveals others (Windows users too) are suffering the same high frequency of crashing with this version.

Since my upgrade to this version, Firefox is crashing on average 2-3 times an hour, the window just vanishes, all I know is that the previous version of Firefox did not crash for me and had no problems before version 3.6.6.

It is crashing occasionally here, but usually when I'm developing extensions, so I'm not sure about the source of the problem. I have seen a few complains about Firefox 3.6.6 tho. Is hard to say for sure what is causing the problem without additional info, so follow the General troubleshooting Steps (http://firefox-tutorials.blogspot.com/2010/05/general-troubleshooting-steps.html) tutorial and post your results.
