View Full Version : [SOLVED] 10.04 won't boot from CD

Working on a Dell Dimension 2400 with winXP. Trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 on a second HD. Have BIOS set to boot from CD first. Tried two different CD's, one that I burned myself and the other that came free with a Linux mag. Neither one works. When I restart my computer it just passes right over what's in the CD-ROM drive and boots from the main HD into windows. I've tried putting the CD in the tray while in windows, then restarting; also tried hitting f12 at startup to get the boot menu and selecting "boot from CD". No luck with either, it just starts up windows every time.

The strange thing is that I have a 9.04 CD that boots up just fine. Only it screwed up the mbr, so I'm trying to install 10.04 instead.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Problem solved: I burned the .iso to a CR-R instead of a DVD+RW and it worked.
