Hi.

I have a large number of .avi files that I used to stream from my Kubuntu desktop to my Vista laptop, and through that to my television, using Windows Media Player. I was happily able to eliminate all my other reasons for having Vista on the laptop, and last night switched it to Kubuntu. I added the medibuntu repositories and installed the extra codecs, as well as VLC, KMplayer and Mplayer. None of them would play my avi files over the network. After a bit of research, I tried SMplayer. That one copies the file to a temp directory on the laptop, then plays it, but with no sound.

Is there a player that will stream the files from my desktop computer? And what can I do about the no sound problem if it repeats in another player that will actually play the files?
