I am trying to join #android in XChat
But when I type /join #android, I get this error message back:
#android :Cannot join channel (+r) - you need to be identified with services

You need to be identified with services. ;) Which network is it on?

#android is on freenode...unless there's another #android I'm not aware of. The FAQ should tell you how to register: http://freenode.net/faq.shtml

Wouldn't "General Help" be a better sub-forum for this sort of thing?

The channel mode (+r) means that you must be a registered user on freenode.
The step-by-step info can be found here:

chromatic.lotu beat me to it. I think you need to be logged into freenode.

It took you over a month to be beaten by chromatic.lotu ;)
