1) Either the Chromifox Basic (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8782/) or Chromifox Extreme (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10674/) theme, depending on how much you'd like Firefox to look like Chrome.

2) FoxTab (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8879/) adds a customizable speed dial that can even be 3D if you want to (although that is optional, it has a 2D option as well). Go to Tools > Add-Ons and then click Preferences under FoxTab, then under General select Top Sites under Open New Tab so that FoxTab automatically shows up in a new tab. There is also Speed Dial (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4810/) if you want something simpler.

3) Omnibar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8823/) integrates the URL and search bars into one.

Sadly not available for 4.0 Beta 1. I have traded 4.0 b1 for Chrome.

This is cool and all, but my only question is... why would you want to do this? Are you trying to fool someone into thinking that you're running one browser while laughing silently to yourself that you're using something else? And then make them freak out when you show them that it's REALLY firefox?

I like Chromifox Basic a lot. Not because it looks like Chrome, but because everything fits nicely and I can have my tabs upside down.

I don't like Chromifox Extreme and I don't like Chrome browser.

Although the idea is good and the features cool, I have found it extremely buggy last time I tried it.

I would recommend Speed Dial (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4810/) instead. Nevertheless, Speed Dial don't display dynamically created dials, based on browsing history.

3) Omnibar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8823/) integrates the URL and search bars into one.

I tried it once, but I didn't like it. The default Firefox address bar is better for my needs.

Because firefox top panel takes hell of space. I like speed and cleanness of Chrome. All above addons are trying to make firefox more productive and space conscious.

Yeah, Foxtab disables my spell check for some reason.

+1 for Speed Dial. It's excellent.

I thought people would find FoxTab more visually impressive. If they want simplicity, you're right, Speed Dial is better.

Classic compact is a great Firefox theme if your concerned about space. thats one of the first things i add on a fresh install.

So is Speed Dial with my profile save to home directory and backed up so fresh install is a snap.

I also don't like chrome.

It is - it looks amazing, but having a functional spell check is more important to me.

To be fair, I decided to try it again. It has improved a lot since the last time I tried it. It actually works now on my system and looks really fancy.

I will keep it for a couple of days to see how it goes.

My firefox. :)

Please use the attachment feature. Big images like that are annoying, since they mess with the forum layout.

Actually, you don't need 3 extensions, just use FF with 0 extensions.

why would you want to do this?

Presumably because they have Firefox extensions that are preventing them from actually switching to Chrome(ium). Otherwise, yeah, just use Chrome.

I have no intentions whatsoever of switching to Chrome. Firefox is a much better browser for my needs, even without extensions. Well, I have 69 extensions installed and 60 currently active. So yes, I wouldn't switch because of them, but also because I don't like the design of Chrome. It is chromeless, featureless and cannot be customized.
