Reinstalling of Ubuntu 64bit

after some familiarization with the terminal, i would like to reinstall a fresh ubuntu. but i try to boot up form the cd and install again, but it's takes to another partition and not using back the 'old' partition. how should i made it install on the partition that it used?

Go into manual partitioning. Select your old partition, tell it to mount it at /, and format it. If you had a swap, select that and use it as swap.
