I'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 on an old XP machine. It boots from the disk but the welcome screen never shows up, only the purple Ubuntu screen.
When the purple Ubuntu screen is displayed, I pushed F6 and tried installing from there, but that only starts up in test mode from the disk.
I've tried installing from the test mode, but the installer crashes.
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? I installed the same iso image on my mac using fusion and had no problems.
