I've had issues getting Unreal Tournament 2K4 installed on my computer because I didn't have the freaking linux-installer.sh file on my disc. I tried the Loki installer and it would always crash, but tonight was different. I whipped that installer into shape! I was bored and decided to try one last time before selling it. Loki always froze at a screen asking for my CD key after I put it in. Killing it from top or even the Ctrl+Alt+F2 way with the default signal wasn't working. Well I tried killing it while it was running from top again (normally I would have to restart my computer to get it to stop), and I don't know how the kill signals work, but I figured I would try something new, so I just put '1' in and boom it stopped it, but it did something I didn't expect. It came back up to the screen asking for my CD key so I said what the hey because the menu looked kind of different. Entered the CD key in, and up came a EULA, and the installation process happened, finished, and plays without any issues. I don't even have to turn off Compiz or any thing that uses my audio while I play! :D

Nice! I wish I knew where my Unreal Tournament 2004 CD was or I'd try this. Out of all the FPS games I've played UT is by far my favorite, though I haven't played it in years.

Does the online part work? Also where'd you get the installer? If I can find my CD (or find one cheap on EBay) I might need to set this up on my laptop.

I haven't tried online, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I wonder though, can Linux and Windows players play against each other?

This is where the loki installer is.

Just activate the permissions and run it. If it freezes at the same spot it did for me kill it with a signal of 1 and if you're lucky it might pop back up and work.

This is the version I have. It's a single DVD, although I haven't installed the Megapack.

There's also Loki installers for it as well.

Hi,

Thanks for that, I just tried killing the installer several times and suddenly (after killing it with -9) the installer popped up again. When the installer pops back up, it has this nice old xaw style, i.e. no button theme at all. Could this be a gnome/compiz problem?

This is the unfortunate and sad side of gaming on Linux. We get excited when we can finally play a game that 6+ years old.
