monitor issue

Hello,
I just installed the new Ubuntu, and it seems to install just fine on my HP dv2815nr (dv2000). The screen is weird though. I can see that everything is there,and i can navigate through the system, but there are these horizontal bars over the entire screen. The stripes are dark at top, and then lighten at the bottom, then another bar starts, there are at least 30. I am not sure at all how to go about fixing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

have you installed the nvidia drivers?
I looked at the HP web site and it says that you have a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M video

from the System > Administrator > Hardware Drivers
it should show you if you have Nvidia driver installed

I do not know which one would be the best one for you

I have an old IBM Mpro with Quadro4 980 XGL video card and I have to use the Nvidia driver version 96.43.17, if I use any thing newer me video does bad things
