add my own syntax highlight to gEdit

hi,
I wanted to add/modify a syntax highlight for gEdit. (in /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs)

problem is my syntax highlight shown in view > Highlight Mod only when I run gedit as root.

what should I do?
