Hi,

I am doing a clean installation of 32 bit Lucid.

I have in a box of parts two wireless NICs, an Asus WL-1380G V2 and a Trendnet TEW-423PI C1.0R.

Googling shows that people have had a lot of trouble with these two NICs in older Ubuntu versions. Am I likely to have any success with either of them in Lucid?

Is there a list of supported wireless NICs for Lucid?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a choice of NIC?

Thanks.

;)

Perhaps this thread is in the wrong category?

I notice now that there is a networking category.

If a mod wants to move it, please do.

Thanks.

Sweet! Working!!!

In absence of advice for or against, I tried the Asus WL-1380G V2, a Broadcom chipset NIC.

There were no native drivers, but the Hardware Drivers utility found unsupported (?) drivers. These did not work immediately.

Although I did a number of (probably needless) things to try to get them working, I suspect that a simple reboot after installation was all that was required.

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

:P
