View Full Version : Netbook Install Question

I want to make a persistent install of UNR on a USB that I can boot in my netbook. I think I understand what I need to do, but I just want to clarify.

1. I need to download the UNR ISO.
2. I use the start up disk creator (in desktop Ubuntu) to make the USB, this should allow me to boot from my netbook.
3. Then I am done.

My main worries is that I won.t be able to make a persistent drive from the statup disk creator. Are my concerns founded?

That's all you have to do. You should be fine.

Your concerns are completely unfounded. I made a persistent USB drive and I plan to continue using it. I made it from the startup disk creator. You're good to go. Just make sure you allow it to store data in extra space.

Thanks for the responses. I am glad that everything will probably work out.

A lot depends on the flash drive. Some do great and others just refuse to cooperate.

I used an external CD-ROM to install on my Netbook.

If you have Windows on the Netbook already, then you can use unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) to install Ubuntu onto the Netbook

I've done it with many flashdrives, you should be fine. Just as long as the flashdrive's brand isn't "Toshaba" or something. ;)
