I am unable to install ubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso
It goes like this: Insert disc, reboot, wait a while.
Then the screen turns to a two-tone flickering purple and progress ceases.

Maybe the reason lurks below, what do you think?

Intel Core i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz
Thermaltake Bigwater 770 cooling system
6GB DDR3 RAM
30 inch Samsung SyncMaster 305T monitor
6 Hard Drives, total capacity: 4.19541TB
Super WriteMaster DVD drive
Currently running XP

Problem solved.

After much frustration and re-arranging and experimentation, the problem turned out to be the 30" monitor.

Because the Ubuntu installation didn't come with a driver for my graphics card, it was not able to present the installation options.

I dug up an old and tiny Packard Bell LCD monitor and was then able to complete the installation, including the latest graphics card driver.

Good night :-)
