Hi,

Will it work if I install the driver that ATI gives me on their homepage to play games like doom3.

My gcard is: ATI Radeon 9550 128MB.

When I was on 9.04 I've tried a lot of driver variations, none of the worked perfectly (especially not fglrx). So I suggest you to play other games or change video card (*ouch*) - probably a newer nvidia card will work perfectly. As for me I play games that this default driver can handle. Check out playdeb.net for some of them or send me a pm.

In short -- NO.

There are NO ATI proprietary drivers that will work with your card and any recent versions of Ubuntu. You will be using the default open-source drivers. So, basically, there is nothing to install and if you try to force the installation of those drivers, you will trash your disp[ay and have to boot into console mode to remove them.
