Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with 10.04?

I did a fresh install upgrade, have a separate partition for /home. and I saved a package list prior to the fresh install. After the install, I reloaded my packages.

Now, every time I use synaptic, it grays out for a few seconds, locking the system. I can not get Thunderbird to start, it appears in the panel, with "starting Thunderbird" and then closes. Also Ubuntu Software Center" does the same, appears in the panel "starting ..." and then is going, nothing appears on the screen.

Any suggestions? I am thinking of rolling back

When you say you reloaded your packages were they from the Lucid repository. Trying to reload packages from Jaunty is not a good idea thats a older distro. Try the live cd and see if it runs okay.

Your best to set up a new install rather then reloading packages that may have been upgraded since the first distro and not even needed or relevant and may cause problems.

I think this is where the problem is rather then Lucid itself.
