In the Ubuntu 10.04 installed the aMSN and Skype. Soon after the installation set up programs to stay in the top right corner of the screen leaning against the right edge and the panel. Also did the sizing of windows to be with appropriate sizes.
What happens is that every time you boot up Ubuntu the windows appear in places other than those configured and with different sizes.
This happens when the visual effects are enabled, because if I leave without any effect as the windows are configured.
Compiz is the problem? Is there solution to solve this?

Do you have the "Compiz Settings Manager" installed?

It's in System > Preferences. If not install it through software centre.

Open the settings manager

Click Window Management on the left > Place Windows

Adjust to your likings.
