Well hello everyone im quite new to this forum but not to linux. But now iv'e come up with a problem.

The thing is i want to have windows xp on my internal drive and ubuntu on the external. Not very hard but i want it so that i can choose what to boot when i start my computer and i also want to store other things then ubuntu on my external drive so i can use it in xp also

The reason i want ubuntu for is to use it while watching movies or chatting osv and use xp for games and my animation programs since they tend to be quite hard to get to work on ubuntu.

Cant really find a solution for this so im hoping for ur help.

External is still just another drive. The important thing is you must install grub to the external and set the external to boot first in BIOS. If external is not available then your BIOS will boot the current internal.

To make sure GRUB is installed to the external you must use the advanced button on the last partition or ready to install screen.
