After somehow I managed to create the partitions necessary for the Kubuntu instalation. I'm stuck at Installing the base system part of the installation process.

I've created the following partitions:
20GB ext3 - which I assaign to be /
123GB ext3 - which should be /home but if I assaign both at once the partitioner gets stuck
2.3GB Swap

so I assaign the root, proceed - so far anything is ok but at some point when the base system is being installed one of the folowing two happens:

Or we get here and the process stops altogether:

I have spent quite some time trying to get this working, but to no avail so far. Tried different distributions, older release and latest of Ubuntu. I couldn't even boot parted magic to partition my drive, so I used Paragon from my XP on the first drive. And somehow managed to get stuck here.

Anyways spent enough time on my attempts and refuse to give, since I'm sick enough from the Win XP already. I soooo much want to get rid of it, but without any luck so far.

Please help... And thanks in advance!

If the first is too bad in quality here what it says:

The debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 137)
check /var/log/syslog or see virtual console 4 for the details.

Any ideas? Or suggestions?!?

Well that was a hardware issue. Out of my monitor CD/DVD-drive or motherboard, the last was causing the problem, with the new one I installed and am already running xubuntu :)
