Hello All,

I'm tring to install Ubuntu on a Dell PowerEdge 2450 but I keep getting error:

LOADING ADDITIONAL COMPONETS
retrieving nic-modules-2.6.32-21-generic-di

I throught it was my cd drive and I went out and brought another but it does the same thing with the new one. It gets up to 21% and then it saids it was a problem reading data from the cd-rom. please make sure its in the drive. If re-trying does not work, you should check the integrity of your cd- rom.

Have you tried downloading and burning a fresh CD? I had a similar problem with a Mythbuntu installation, and the disc was the cause. My recent experience with CD-R discs is that they're about as reliable as floppies!!

Download from torrent because it checks for corruption during download.
And burn the CD at 4x, no faster. Fast burning creates possibility for errors and you need to install an OS from this CD. With CDs today being 56x many people think even 20x is slow. Not more that 4x.

I've had this issue too, with a couple different distributions. Burning a new CD or DVD fixed the problem for me.
