The only thing I can see that might stop you is the 128 MB of RAM. That's not very much.

If you want to program with a simple text editor like vim or gedit, you'll have no problem. If you want to use Eclipse, then you'll run into some issues...

Yes, but don't expect to build something the likes of open office on that...

Install glade, learn python, and you can make apps in no time...

I wonder if anyone else here would pay $80 for it... I'd pass- there's gotta be more modern hardware in that price range...

O ya I just noticed that.the guy said it has 192 mb of ram and I have a legal retail of xp so I'll probably install micro xp it only uses 27mb of ram so that leaves me with a decent amount left.

on your place- i'd rather take something from IBM, like T43 (Centrino) or T23 (Pentium 3)- anyway, do not take anything with less than 1gb or ram.

//// ok, i haven't see your post about that 1 giga you have got...

You don't seem to be getting much more for a $70 price increase, but perhaps the seller is willing to negotiate. I think your first choice, particularly with the RAM upgrade, could do well if all your going to be doing is programing than it could work well, after all software performance depends on software and hardware.
