I have a bunch of shows that I've recorded and then transcoded without the commercials in nuv format. I have single layer DVDs and was told that I could put at least 4 of these 45 minute shows onto one of these DVDs if the file was divx. How do I do this with ffmpeg?

Hi,

maybe have a look here http://www.ffmpeg.org/faq.html#SEC22 or maybe http://web.njit.edu/all_topics/Prog_Lang_Docs/html/mplayer/encoding.html

Do I just burn the .mpg file as a DVD data file for DivX DVD players to be able to play this?

It depends on your dvd player. Mine will play a data dvd if the show is .avi but not .mkv

Mythbuntu is all pc-big monitor and internal DVD player. I use vlc to play my DVDs...so would I just choose to open a file in vlc to watch a divx file or do I open it as a DVD and burn a menu on the DVD so I can navigate?

I thought you were referring to commercial dvd players.

VLC should have no problem with x264 encoded files.

Sorry...initially I was asking about commercial dvd players thinking I would like to take my divx dvd files outside my house.
