Hey all,
I'm new to Linux and thought I'd try and install Linux on an old laptop of mine which has low memory resources. I started with the Ubuntu alternate CD command-line install and installed LXDE. However, the sound and wireless networking isn't working (ethernet works fine). The system recognizes both pieces of hardware since I can see them using Sysinfo.
The sound card is a ALi Corporation M5451 and the wireless hardware is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4306. I've used Synaptic Package Manager to install many different packges that seemed to relate to wireless or sound, but there has to be a better way to fix this. Any hints?
Thanks.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the version I'm using is Lucid.
