I am hosting this poll to find out what side of the road a majority of users drive on, the majority being implemented in the game La Vida (http://la-vida-game.co.uk).
Thank you for your participation!

While you might be correct that he is promoting his game... I think it is a bit harsh to make the accusation because it makes the worse possible assumption about his motives.

Exactly, this is simply a poll to help the developers. I didn't think of it as advertisement or promoting. :p

I didn't vote because you do not have a third option - Both. Indians do not have a 'side' of the road. You aim your vehicle in the next visible road space.

Not just truckers, almost everyone on the road drive like that. I follow rules and end up being honked at and pushed about on the road. Last year, 85,000 people died in road accidents in India. It's like we're trying to cover up for the excess population.

I second the motion. I know I always ask for too much, but, in time, it should be adjusted with the locale of the system.

The project is just for having fun and learning, I think. I agree though, it would be great to, at least, get near in quality and hopefully, a different approach.

Linux was done as a project "just for fun" as well (in fact, Just for Fun is the title of Linus Torvald's autobiography) and look what became of it. 20 years later, and I, a Joe Shmoe Nobody from Michigan, am using it.

Interesting things can happen with projects that were started "just for fun." I hope that this project turns out to be one of the good ones.

As a driver in the US, I drive on the right.

I actually think that the people in the UK made the better decision when they chose to drive on the left side of the road. However, they then completely ruined it by putting the drivers' seat on the wrong side, making it just as annoying to exit the car after parallel-parking over there as it is in this country.

cartman640
July 7th, 2010, 06:04 AM
The driver's seat should be closest to the middle of the road, as it allows for the best visibility of the whole road. This is immediately apparent when you drive a car that has the steering wheel on the wrong side. Here in New Zealand we drive on the left, so the driver is on the right hand side of the car. We also own a Ford Mustang which has been imported from the USA, so the driver is on the left, and I can say from experience that it's not easy to drive, especially around traffic because it's impossible to see beyond the car immediately in front.

I have to say though, getting out after parallel parking is much easier, can just step out straight onto the footpath.

Technically, I spose I should drive on the left...but since I dont drive a car, I ride (bus or bike) wherever I feel like.

Only 1 car I know of has a setup like that, and its just a touch to expensive for most of us humans.

The drivers seat should be closest to the middle of the *road*, not to the middle of the car.

(Thus on the left in right-handed countries, and on the left in right driving countries.)

Anyways, as for me, I drive on the underside of the road.

Yes.

Most people are right hand dominant so in a head on collision they would yank the wheel right and ... run off the road ( But technically both drivers would have been wiped out) SO the wreckage is nicely off the highway enabling everyone else to pass easily !!

In the uk (left side of the road.. Steering wheel on the right) in the same scenario you wipe out the front seat passengers in both colliding vehicles.

So follow the most basic rule of the road

Don't hit anything !!

No need to create a poll to promote your game!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-_and_left-hand_traffic

But the vote is also a great way to get fans, interacting with the community a great way to get people to want to try the game. Interaction with fans is actually becoming a huge part of modern digital marketing, Trent Reznor is a perfect example of this, so just keep the vote, and put on MORE votes in the future!
