help with display - 10.4 new install on 12" mb

The first few times i restarted it was fine.
I was actually working on the wireless adapter...

Now, after i start, i get the first list of start up messages.
SCreen turns white.. more messages.

Then i see the 10.4 in the middle of screen.
At which point, it goes blank. The keyboard still functions (at least caps lock lights up)

ANy idea what happened?
