Total Linux nOOb here, so please be patient...

Installed Myth10.04 on a Zotac Atom Ion MB and I cannot get my WinTV HVR 850 to be recognized.

Brand new setup here - fresh install of OS and "new" version of HVR 850 which seems to secretly be the same as a 950Q

I followed the instructions here:

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-950Q

I goofed at first and extracted the files for Kernel 2.6.30 and earlier, when I realized what I did I deleted it and copied the file for 2.6.31.

I have rebooted numberous times and when I go to VLC -> connect to capture device, nothing shows there. Same problem when setting up myth backend.

if I type lsusb, it does show up in the list.

I am only interested in ATSC at this time. I know that there have been issues with the NTSC side of this tuner.

I have read a lot of posts on this, I know it works and I think I'm just missing something simple.

Thanks in advance.....

Under Ubuntu 9.10 you shouldn't have to install any firmware to get a 950Q to work (I have run a 950Q using Ubuntu 9.10 - the firmware is included with the distribution).
