Hello all you Ubuntu people!

I've decided to start my own Linux distro! (Well, I kinda cheated, cuz I used SUSE Studio.) But I can't come up with a good name for it. I've tried several names, but the one that's kinda stickin' out for me is:

NuWave Linux / OS

So, what do the people think?

Maybe it can help if you say for who your distro is used. Is it for lightweight computers, programmers, people that want eye candy ...

Maybe ideas will pop up if we know this.

EasyOS

or to get windows users over add Win to the name.

It all depends on what the OS is designed to be for...

If it uses LXDE, you could call it Flite OS because LXDE's logo is a bird and it is a lite distro.

If you want it to be for Windows-like you could call it FenOS or Fenee OS (fenÍtre is French for "window").

If your OS is supposed to be an easy-to-use SuSE varient you could call it SoftLanding OS or SoftSystem OS because SuSE used to stand for "Software und System-Entwicklung" meaning "Software and System Development."

You just can't make up a name randomly. It needs a purpose.

Ubuntu is called what it is because it's the name of an african philosophy that Ubuntu shared ideals with.

Where do you see your OS going in 5 years? What kind of users do you expect to use it? Answer these questions and we can seriously help you.

So you used Suse studio you say? The best way to do it is command line and gconf keys and all sorts.

It all depends on what the OS is designed to be for...

Basically, the ultimate goal of the distro, is to create the (one of) most user friendly operating systems, that provides a great alternative to Windows.

I remember when I first tried Ubuntu. I was quite turned off at first, and it took a while to get used to it.

I've been trying to convert my friends and family to Linux for some time, and I don't want them to have the same experience that I did.

Okay, here are a few ideas off the top of my head:

Serious names -

Facile OS - Why facile? Facile is French for easy. (pronounced "fass-eel")

Last OS - Why last? Because you won't need anything else after it.

Humorous names -

Deodorant OS - Why deodorant? Your slogan is - "Linux? No sweat!"

Pie OS - Why pie? Because the distro is "easy as pie!"

Red Velvet OS - Why red velvet? Because of red velvet cake. Why cake? Because using it is a "piece of cake!"

Clever names -

Outside OS - Why outside? Because once you're there, you don't need windows. Slogan(s) - "Quit Staring at Windows and get Outside!" and "Forget Your Panes!"

Skylight OS - Why skylight? It's like a window, only better!

That should be "Antiperspirant OS".

Very true. Very true. :)

Also, I had other ideas -

Basket OS - Why basket? Using it is a picnic.

Summer OS - Why summer? Using it is as relaxing as a summer day... (the testing version could be called the Winter build)

I love the name "Portal".

but it seems to me like that would make a good name for an Internet browser, not really for an OS.
