I am setting up a server for my small business that may come to fruition soon... But i never thought about my upload speed from my house...

can someone do me a favor and download this 10MB file from my server? It contains the output from this command: "dd if=/dev/zero of='/var/www/10M.bin' count=20000" So it is completely harmless, and you dont even have to get the whole thing, just enough to get an idea of the speeds involved.

I know i should use a bandwith test online, but they keep comming out randomly, and i cant download a file from myself, because it download straight from my router to my computer (100Mbs).

67-109kbs for me and I have 12mb download speeds

Then it drops to around 35-40kbs

About 40KB/s

My connection is 60/6Mbit.

Now it's even slower. About 15-30kbs now.

It started out at around 70K/sec, and dropped to 35K/sec. Took 4:16 seconds to download it, average speed: 39.09K/sec.

1.5Meg connection here.

Anyway, it's quite slow, but it should be fine for serving normal web pages, unless you have a lot of media. :)

The more people that try it at the same time the slower it is going to get.

110 kb/s, and I'm on 1500 kbps.

EDIT: You can use speedtest.net to get a more accurate upload statistic.

mostly 116kb/s. my line can max out at just under 800kb/s. looks like 116-ish is about your maximum. if you need more, you can probably rent a nice linux server somewhere that gives you ssh access etc and at least 10mbit if not 100mbit speeds. it just depends on how busy you expect to be i guess. your connection is fine for a very small group of concurrent users but if you're expecting customers to use it then they may get frustrated very quickly.
