Question about a ethernet switch

if you plug one cable into it with internet connection and send 2 out to internet capable devices will the conncetion only use half the potential bandwith on either one? will there be any degradation of quality?

Most switches are full duplex, so you'd have the same bandwidth on each device.

I wouldn't use the term, bandwidth, in this case, but I know what you mean. The thing is, unless collision happens, no degradation happens, but using 2 lines, you have a chance of collision(technically, not collision as with a switch, but buffering) that degrades the effective connection speed.
