I'm bored, the weather here in Hyperborea is terrible and I need something to pass the time.
So, has anybody got some ideas? :-({|=

There's a train simulator in the repositories (it isn't half bad actually) :)

Look in the Ubuntu Software Centre under any category you like the sound of, and get installing (bandwidth permitting).

Heck I had to Google Hyperborea to see where/what it is. I'm reading The Lightning Thief (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lightning_Thief) now so I wonder if they'll mention it in there.

As for boredom, what are your interests? I agree with VH-BIL, but you can also check out IRC, which is a great way to kill time, or if you're into tech nostalgia check out some of the Computer Chronicles or Net Cafe videos on Archive.org. http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/ is another great site to burn time looking through older Radio Shack catalogs, again if your into tech nostalgia :)

Take care --

Sam

Also from Wikipedia it's some mythical place from Greek mythology. As I said I'm reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympian books now but I'm only on Book 1. I did some Googling and Hyperborea is mentioned in Book 4.

Nice one! That cheered me up :p

Thanks kaldor but I did too much of that in an alternate universe and got banished here.

WRDN, I used to play with real steam locos as a kid, that's how ancient I am. I was even in the Roundhouse (Camden Town) when they used it to repair them

VH-BIL, I think I might try a programming language. I have done done some Basic, Visual Basic and Javascript in the past. What do you suggest I try?

All other ideas welcome, especially humorous ones! Thanks

"Portabella"? Wrong species; in fact wrong genus. ( And no, I will not give you a correct Genus)

@samalex

The TRS80 was my first computer. It had not software with it so I had to make my own which led to me now working as a software developer now.

Try C#. That way your software will work on Linux, Windows and MacOSX.

I just looked in Synaptic for C#, but I'm now confused.
What would I need to get started?
Thanks.
