Is it possible to run netbook and remove the side menu and just use the regular stuff?

I figured it out... you can logout of NBR and login to gnome- great.

you can add the netbook parts you like to the startup, for instance "maximus" so you can still get maximized windows, in gconf-editor you can choose to keep the window decorations.
