View Full Version : [ubuntu] can't use livecd or install any flavor of linux

my system is windows 7 32bit
amd athlon 64 x2 dual core 4600

when i try put the livecd in it starts to install the livecd then it shuts
off the computer. i have tried v9 and now the newest.:confused:
what can i do

first check powersaving and screensaver settings (better to disable to make an install quietly) and choose ahci mode into bios

None of this makes sense. :confused: Merely running the Live CD should not initiate installation. Nor should it shut down the computer.

First, your BIOS -- is it set to boot from the CD ROM drive first?

Second, your Live CD -- did you (a) check the md5sum on the downloaded ISO file, and (b) burn it at the slowest speed available for your optical drive (4X is best, 8X normally works, anything faster often does not work)?

well i took the cd and tried it in the wifes computer. which is the exact to mine but hers
has winxp. it went on with no problems. i think its windows 7
