Internet connection problems

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install the netbook remix on my EeePC. I've got as far as running the OS off the USB, but when I tried to test it out it didn't register wireless networks, & when I connected it by cable the computer froze & had to be restarted. Any thoughts? The current Windows 7 OS has no difficulties with either, & I don't want to do the final install until I'm sure it works, cos I can't re-install Windows if I do. Thanks for your help!

Which EeePC is it? I know my 701 4g has some problems with the UNR.

Just an advice rather than an answer:
If you love your current installation, (Win7 or whatever it is) you should keep a backup of the boot & installation partitions on a separate media such that you can restore them if & whenever needed.
I use Norton Ghost or PartImage (can't save mbr by default though) for that purpose. The simplest & guaranteed way is to clone the whole disk if possible as it also includes the MBR in the image.
