An unexpected point for GNU/Linux: Excel, Word and Powerpoint 2000 installed and run faster in Wine than in Windows on the same machine.

But a point for Microsoft too: these same programs also work much faster than Open Office.

That is kinda perverted.

OpenOffice has better interoperability and support and MS Office has better speed and features. When in the history of computing has any Linux app had less features than a comparable MS product? ;)

Could this have something to do with how OO is actually descendant of StarOffice, a closed office suite from SUN (the developer of Java, a cross-platform uhhh.. platform that is notoriously slow)?
