revert indicator applet to upstream

I really dislike the ubuntu patches in lucid on the system tray, does anyone know if a ppa exists which has the upstream default or how I could unpatch the ubuntu package to upstream default?

It's something really hard to achieve since a lot of applications come with this patch, so it's not a gnome panel thing only.

So recompiling transmission and rhythmbox without these patches should fix it or do I need to do something with the panel too?
