Hi Luke.

perhaps some of the boot options mentioned in this thread.

http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9427009

I just ordered a x200 from lenovo outlet, there was a decent price on x201 a little while ago, but I passed on it because of ubuntu compatibility unknowns -- I know that the x200 works almost out of the box with ubuntu, so I went that route instead. I am 100% Linux 100% of the time, so Linux compatibility is #2 factor in choosing a new machine - #1 is quality for price..

Hi

Thanks for your comments .

But now laptop already been purchased and I wanted to install ubuntu coz I also in linux and hates Windows.

Don't we have some supports form the ubuntu community to solve such sudden incompatible issues ?

of course this can be display driver incompatibility for IBM Think pad X201.

Thanks
Luke

Did you try the boot options mentioned in this tread?:

http://ubuntu-ky.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9427009

If you did, give 10.04 try. If that won't go try 9.10.

The release cycle is every 6 months, at which point there will be another release for you to try. -- Though there is no good reason for most people to always install or upgrade to latest version. FYI -- on I have 9.10 on my wife's x200s and 8.10 on my x31.

Good luck.

Hi, Luke,
I have got new ThinkPad X201. Is yours really IBM? Because I though that the new ones are all Lenovo as they have been sold to this Chinese company.

Anyway, have you tried installing 10.10? Because it works good for me. Actually I have just upgraded to 11.04.
