Some of you might know that I am going to make a cartoon show and I need equipment, what would be the best microphone for voice acting?
Can you all suggest me any other things I will need for my cartoon show? Thanks.
I don't know if I'll use Ubuntu to make it or a Mac.

I use this mic for recording vocals and instruments at home:

It is USB powered and works great. It is inexpensive and available at your local Guitar Center.
I recommend this mic for all vocal work. There is an XLR version of this mic available also.

I wonder if this works with Linux: http://www.amazon.com/Samson-CO1U-USB-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B000AP1RE8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273725736&sr=8-1

Loads of options, for voice acting only it's hard to go wrong with any professional mic. Any quality condenser mic with a pop filter will do you good. Even a standard dynamic mic will work wonders.
The issue is more what mic pre-amp you choose. That will determine how well it amplifies your voice without distortion or how well it voids background hiss. The pre-amp will also decide what operating systems it is compatible with (that is if you want it to be USB or FireWire interface).

Radio station / TV booth console microphone in the US .. many use VERY old RCA ribbon microphones (but can not be repaired cheaply if damaged)
MANY stations now use the Electovoice RE-20 or it's newer equivalent.

I ordered this microphone: http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Microphones-Snowflake-USB-Microphone/dp/B0012AUHXW
Is it Linux friendly and is it a good mic for voice recording?

It's plug and play and doesn't require additional drivers. So most likely. I saw a website mentioning this one as one that supports linux here (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BYCNKU?tag=bespristo-20)
Mic How-to (http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-385739.html) here that may help.

Order first, ask later?
