My current favorite, well worth a listen! Tori No Hito (Bird Person) by Joe Hisaishi. The ending track for Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (風の谷のナウシカ, Kaze no Tani no Naushika).

I agree. The whole movie just plows forward with the leitmotifs. I recently got my hands on it, and I have been enjoying that very much.

Not actually a film score but definitely worth a listen - the music from the anime Tsubasa Reservior Chronicles (music by Yuki Kajiura)

The music is hard to describe, kind of classical with a techno edge. Lots of beautiful violin throughout.
